Concrete foundations and slabs form the base of everything built on top of them. For residential additions, garages, accessory structures, and new construction in Hoboken and Hudson County, we pour footings, grade beams, stem walls, and slab-on-grade floors built to local code and designed for New Jersey's soil and climate conditions. What Foundation and Slab Work Involves
Foundation work starts with site excavation and layout verified against the approved plans. We install footings below the frost line (42 inches in New Jersey), set forms for walls or grade beams, place reinforcing steel, pour, and strip forms after adequate cure time. For slab-on-grade work — garage floors, basement replacements, utility pads — we prepare the subgrade, install vapor barrier where required, reinforce with rebar or wire mesh, and pour to the specified thickness. We do not proceed without reviewing the permitted drawings. All work is completed by our own crew — no subcontracting.

Foundation work in Hoboken sometimes reveals conditions that require a structural engineer's assessment before we can proceed. We do not do engineering work. If your project requires stamped drawings for permit, plan for an engineer to be involved before we price the concrete scope.

- We recommend a minimum of 7 days before any significant load is applied to a freshly poured wall or slab, and 28 days before full design load. Framing crews typically need to wait at least two weeks for a residential foundation.
- Do you pour basement floors for existing homes?
- Yes. Basement floor replacement is one of the more common foundation jobs we do in Hoboken's older housing stock. We remove the old slab, regrade the subgrade, and pour a new floor to the specified thickness.
- What concrete PSI do you specify for foundations and slabs?
- We use a minimum of 3,000 PSI for residential foundations, and typically specify 4,000 PSI for basement floors and slabs with moisture exposure. Higher-strength mixes and water-reducing admixtures are specified where site conditions or code require it.
