Pool Decks
A concrete pool deck needs to handle constant foot traffic, standing water, pool chemicals, and New Jersey's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking, pitting, or becoming a slip hazard. We install and resurface concrete pool decks for residential properties across Hoboken, Jersey City, and Hudson County, using mixes and finishes appropriate for wet, high-exposure conditions. The finish and drainage slope on a pool deck matter more than almost any other flatwork project — getting either wrong creates real safety problems.
What Pool Deck Installation and Resurfacing Involves
New pool deck installation starts after the pool shell is complete and the surrounding grade is established. We form and pour the deck with a slope away from the pool edge for drainage, finish with a texture safe for wet bare feet, and cut control joints to manage shrinkage cracking. For existing decks that are structurally sound but surface-deteriorated, a resurfacing overlay restores the finish without full replacement. We evaluate every existing deck before recommending overlay vs. replacement — an overlay on a failing base will fail the same way. All work is completed by our own crew — no subcontracting.

Signs You May Need This Service
- You are installing a new pool and need the surrounding deck poured
- The existing pool deck surface is spalling, pitting, or has widespread cracking that creates a trip hazard
- The current surface is slippery when wet and unsafe for barefoot use
- Drainage off the deck is directing water toward your home's foundation
- You want to update the appearance of an existing structurally sound deck
What Affects the Cost
- Total square footage of the deck area
- Whether the project is new construction or resurfacing of an existing slab
- Finish type — broom, exposed aggregate, or stamped patterns
- Drainage corrections required before or during the pour
- Any demolition of an existing deck that needs to be removed
- Setback requirements from the pool edge or coping
We provide free, written estimates before any work begins. Call (201) 903-7936 to schedule yours. We serve Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, and all of Hudson County.
When Not to Call Us
We will not resurface a pool deck with significant structural cracking or heaving. An overlay on a failing base will fail in the same way within a season or two. If the deck has major settlement or cracks wider than a quarter inch, replacement is the correct answer — and we will tell you that directly rather than take the overlay job.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What finish is best for a concrete pool deck?
- A broom finish provides good traction at the lowest cost. Exposed aggregate and stamped patterns both work, but texture selection matters — coarse aggregates can be uncomfortable on bare feet. We show you finish samples before finalizing the spec.
- How does concrete hold up around a saltwater pool?
- Saltwater pools are easier on concrete than many homeowners expect. The chlorine concentrations in saltwater systems are much lower than traditional pools, and standard 4,000 PSI concrete with proper control joints holds up well in both environments.
- Can you widen or extend an existing pool deck?
- Yes. We tie into the existing slab with rebar dowels and match the surface finish as closely as possible. There will be a visible joint between old and new concrete, but the finish can minimize how obvious it is.
- Do I need to seal a concrete pool deck?
- Sealing is recommended but not mandatory for a plain broom-finish deck. For stamped or colored pool decks, sealing is necessary to protect the finish. We discuss sealing options during project closeout on every pool deck job we complete.
